Review by Fairlight - 88/100 Song title: Satisfaction Overload [Acumen] Overall impression: 21/25 Creativity: 20/25 Creativity comments: Pretty creative though there's not much changes throughout the song; the voice samples for instance ("We're having such a good time"...) can become a little annoying after a while. A few changes are provided by the beat sample changing, and stopping and restarting. No solos; the leading part of the song is made of the loud strings chords and voice samples I mentioned before; but these parts are sufficient to keep us hooked up nonetheless, like any commercial music. This could be heard in a bar. Arrangement: 24/25 Arrangement comments: I don't give a 25/25 just because I would sound too much like a dedicated fan... But the fact remains that the arrangement is perfect; the volumes are correct and, as usual for a song by Acumen, there are tons of incredible stereo and echoes effects. Perfect construction, though maybe a crash cymbal (not just reversed) in a couple of places would have helped. samples: 23/25 Sample quality comment: Once again, usual for a song by Acumen: outrageous samples. A few of the 8-bits ones hisses and crackles, but only a FEW; usually, everything sounds like 16-bits even if it's not. Even the loops are almost unnoticeable. Not much use of the ping pong loops, though. Comments: Well... It's Acumen, what can I say else??? This song isn't one of his best and probably won't live up to pass to musical history, but it sure is worth a listen for the technical aspect. Review by LittleElk - 84/100 Song title: Satisfaction Overload Overall impression: 21/25 Creativity: 23/25 Creativity comments: This is, er, different ;) Very inventive, challenging and above all, interresting song. It will bring a smile to your face. Arrangement: 18/25 Arrangement comments: A slow but convincing beat carries a special build-up, fueled by great but strange harmonies. I miss that it doesn't real take off in any direction. Stays abit samish all the way despite how great the arrangement is. Also, the song doesn't really have that many elements... samples: 22/25 Sample quality comment: Amazing samples as with all of Acumens songs. Rich analoug sounding strings, memory moog sounding bass, and great beats. Good use of vocal samples even tho they are abit overused. + Great sound effects used for spice! Comments: All in all a very different song, humorous in a way despite its deep driving beats and strange harmonies. Probably not for everyone, but a great journey in sound any way you see it.
